The Live Oak Arts Festival committee has announced the winner of the 2015 Festival Poster Contest as Adam Plitt, of Gulfport.
“It is an honor to have my work selected as the winner of the Live Oak Art Festival,” said Plitt. “As a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast, I take pride in its heritage. I look forward to attending the festival on May 9, meeting other local artist and signing prints.

At their most recent meeting, Live Oak Arts Festival committee members selected Plitt’s work from several other contest submissions. The art will be sold in advance and at the festival as a souvenir poster representing the 2015 event.
The Festival committee is currently finalizing big plans for the 6th annual event set to take place on Saturday, May 9. Volunteer festival organizers, alongside Main Street program manager Rebecca Davis, have dedicated their time on this event to promote downtown Pascagoula and the city’s heritage.
“We’re so excited about this year’s festival in downtown,” said Suzanne Ros, Festival Chair. “We’ve got a great lineup of music, as well as talented artists and food vendors. It’s going to be a fun Saturday in Pascagoula.”
Ros said she is looking forward to announcing the music lineup in the next few weeks. D’Juana Garrison, who owns Jacks By the Tracks in downtown Pascagoula with her husband Mark, was selected as this year’s Music Chair. She brings several years of entertainment booking experience to the organization.
“Since my husband Mark and I opened Jack’s in 2011, it has been our highest mission to provide quality entertainment on our little red stage,” said Garrison.
“We are constantly amazed by the many many music fans in our community and it is an honor to be a part of this year’s Live Oak Fest searching for talent beyond what we can provide at Jack’s. No matter your musical taste, you’ll enjoy the music we have lined up, from blues and funk, to Americana and jam music. We hope everyone will come out and enjoy the art, food and music.”

The Festival committee is currently accepting applications for artist and food vendor booths and will continue to do so through the end of April. The Live Oak Arts Festival is an annual cultural celebration showcasing local art and cuisine,
shopping, children’s activities, live music, a classic car show and more. Over the past five years this event has become a community homecoming.
